Building a path out of poverty
Education is the path that paves the way out of poverty. But, sadly, one of the heftiest prices we pay for poverty is the toll it takes on the young, in children’s educational performance and their very limited future prospects.
Challenges for in-need children start early. Even by the 3rd grade, children living below the poverty line are, on average, already two years behind their peers in reading and math. To make that even worse, early reading has been identified as key to future success in STEM-related subjects.
For families living under the poverty line, with just enough money for the basic necessities of food and shelter, there are usually no funds left over for books and school supplies. This is where we need YOUR help to fulfill our goal of providing 35,000 backpacks for low-income students throughout the Bay Area. Get involved and donate today!
